Female Arranged Language Programming and Changing Coding World
You are not wrong, if you think the programming world is a field dominated by men. The fact is from the United States Bureau of Labor Statistics that 73 percent of computer workers are men. But that does not mean women do not have the capability of programming. In fact, many female programmers are contributing significantly to this rapidly expanding technology. They managed to carve history and change the world because of his work in the field of computer programming.
Here is a programming language created by the hands of women who can change the world of coding.
1. ARS Assembly
In the 1950s was the beginning of the history of computer development, the most widely used programming language is assembly. Assembly is a programming language that interacts directly with the machine. One of the first assembly language developed was written by female programmer Kathleen Booth who was named ARC Assembly. Giving the name ARC Assembly because this language was first developed for ARC (Automatic Relay Calculator) computer.
ARC Assembly was developed to make computer programming easier and more customizable by letting programmers write machine instructions in mnemonic form on assembler to be translated into machine code.
2. Address
One of the first computer operations dpaat programmed in Europe called MESM, made by the SOViet Union in 1950. However they are difficult to program MESM using machine code. Kateryna Yushchenko and his team were eventually assigned to develop such computer operations and they succeeded in introducing a new programming language to facilitate their work called Addres in 1955. This programming language was used in the Soviet Union for more than 20 years. Kateryna Yushchenku was the first Soviet woman to earn the title "DOctor of Physical and Mathematics Sciences" in the field of programming.
3. FORMAC
Jean Sammet is credited as the creator of the FORMAC programming language (FORMULA manipulation of Compilers) which is an extension of FORTRAN which was able to perform algebraic manipulations in 1962. FORMAC became the first programming language widely used for performing symbolic mathematical calculations.
4. COBOL
COBOL is a computer programming language used for solving business problems. Because of its orientation on a problem, this language is often referred to as "Probelm Oriented Language". COBOL is a woman-made programming language, created by the female programmer Grace Hopper with her team. Grace Hopper makes A-0, the world's first compiler for UNIVAC engines. After developing A-0, Grace Hopper also developed several other programming languages such as ARITH-MATIC and B-0 which later became FLOW-MATIC. In order to be used by non-technical people, COBOL uses easy-to-understand commands.
5. Logo
Cyhthia Solomon and his team at Cambride, Massachusetts developed a new programming language called logo to teach programming for seventh graders in the late 1960s. One of the most popular Logo apps is Turtle Robot that can be ordered by the user to draw a geometric shape using a pen.
